The following courses are designed for group participation but individual packages can be tailored to your needs upon request.

Family Paddle in the Park – An Introduction to Canoeing

Spend a day under the trees as you learn to enjoy nature by that most Canadian means of travel – the canoe. Our traveling companions will include beaver, turtle, deer, and the odd blue heron as we push deeper into the woods. Kids and parents can learn the secrets of the canoeing together in comfort and safety. Red River Outfitters will supply everything for your adventure right down to the tasty snacks.

  • Selection and care of canoes and equipment
  • Safety procedures and techniques
  • How to paddle your own canoe
  • Clothing choices for paddling
  • History and heritage of paddling in Canada

Fare: $40 per person. Children under 10 must be accompanied by adults. 4 hours in length. All equipment and light lunch provided. Choose between locations in the city and local semi-wilderness venues. Certification from CRCA can be arranged upon request

Welcome to the Wilderness – Backcountry Canoe School

So you know your way around a canoe, and you want to explore new horizons. Let us introduce you to the world of canoe tripping and life in the wilderness. Safety and survival are the focus, but fun and comfort are the results of this four day course. Our instructors have extensive backcountry and leadership skills, gained in adventures throughout North America – come share their knowledge. Red River Outfitters will provide the transport, food and gear for this college in the woods; you bring a desire to learn and your sleeping bag. Along the way we’ll study:

  • Wilderness Navigation
  • Gear Selection
  • Weatherproofing skills
  • Wilderness first aid basics
  • Paddling in adverse conditions
  • Woodcraft and survival skills
  • Trip safety

Fare: $525.00 per participant. Meals and gear provided as well as transportation from Lorette. A four day course which may be spread between two weekends. Various locations within a short drive of Winnipeg. Certification by CRCA can be arranged upon request.

Introduction to Whitewater Paddling

Explore the thrill of whitewater in a customized course for ages 12 and up. A graduated approach in controlled settings will allow you to experience one of the most exciting aspects of canoeing. Start with maneuvers in current and then move on to running rapids. We’ll cater the course to your desires and skill level.

Fare: Starting at $140.00 per person. Customized one or two day courses available. Boat rental and CRCA certification upon request.

Leadership Training

With our partners and colleagues at A Leader’s Edge we offer dynamic leadership and ethics training to your business, non-profit organization, team, or community. Leaders recognise circumstances where things can work better, envision valid solutions and are capable of enlisting and guiding others towards their vision. Through a unique combination of wilderness adventure and practical leadership exercises we can bring you and your organization to higher level of effectiveness and co-operation.
